AFTER a spot on the world’s most popular car show last weekend, the updated Nissan GT-R has received the Top Gear seal of approval.
The car received a prime-time spot in one of the show’s legendary challenges three years ago when it raced the bullet train. But if proof was needed that the GT-R has become a favourite of the Top Gear team, last weekend’s appearance certainly proves that.
On a very wet Top Gear test track the GT-R performed admirably, with Clarkson hailing the car as ‘the last word in precision engineering.’
The Top Gear presenter went on to say: ‘The turn-in is crisp and fantastic. The grip is mind-boggling.’ That grip even resulted in viewers seeing Clarkson’s face nearly being pulled off.
But that wasn’t the only outing for the Nissan sports car. The Stig explored the handling capability of the GT-R too and lapped the test track in a shocking 1 minute 17.8 seconds – that’s faster than a Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Maserati MC12 and the Pagani Zonda F.
The new GT-R even beat the 1,000bhp Bugatti Veyron by half a second.
