UP TO 18 new jobs will be created with the building of a new Nissan dealership in Hereford.
Newtown Motors has been awarded the Nissan franchise for Herefordshire and is currently renovating an old showroom and workshop in Harrow Road.
The company – which already represents the brand in South East Wales – is adopting Nissan’s new retail concept as it makes a significant investment to turn the building into a state-of-the-art showroom.
The new dealership is expected to open by January, but in the meantime Newtown Motors is already offering used car sales, servicing, parts and accessories from a temporary unit at the site.
Managing Director Tim Allen said: “We are delighted to able to represent Nissan in Hereford. The new dealership will be one of the most modern in the region and will also bring with it a welcome jobs boost to the area. We’re looking forward to long and prosperous trading in Hereford.”
Newtown Motors is an independently-owned family business established in 1965, with a reputation for friendliness and delivering high levels of customer satisfaction. It has successfully operated a Nissan franchise in Cwmbran for the past four years.
Heading up the sales operation in Hereford is Dave Powell, a well-known figure in the local motor trade.
He said: “It’s fantastic to be partnered with Nissan, especially at a time when it is the fastest automotive brand in the country and UK’s biggest carmarker. The new dealership will look fantastic and represent Nissan’s reputation for innovation.”
Nissan’s new retail concept, which was developed in the UK for roll-out globally, replaces the traditional sales-focused showroom and includes technology and creature comforts combined to enhance the overall customer experience.
It centres around a comfortable and stylish area where customers can enjoy a freshly-brewed coffee while they take in all the latest offers and surf the web at an iPad station.
