SENIOR figures from across the Nissan retail network have gathered in Bedfordshire for the brand’s dealer conference.
The event was a first chance for delegates to get behind the wheel of the all-new Nissan LEAF – the world’s first, second generation mass market electric car – and to learn more about the many technical innovations that set it apart from the competition.
The first drives around the world famous Millbrook proving ground were well received, with all drivers emerging from the car visibly impressed and excited by its huge potential.
But the event was also an opportunity to hear from NMGB executives on the past year’s progress and strategy moving forward, as Nissan seeks to establish itself as the number one Asian car brand.
Alex Smith, Managing Director of NMGB, gave an update on successful initiatives introduced since the last conference and continued his focus on the four strategic pillars set out last year – Driving Demand, Driving Quality, Driving Capacity and Capability, and Driving Balanced Performance.
“Our direction is consistent and our actions are clear,” he said.
Sales Director Andrew Sellars then shared his retail, fleet and used car plans, updated on changes to the way dealer performance is measured and explained greater autonomy for field staff.
Aftersales Director, Chris Marsh, highlighted new training opportunities and the recruitment of a huge number of new aftersales staff across the network.
Dealers also heard from Marketing Director, Nic Verneuil, about the brand’s continued success in driving demand through high profile, big budget campaigns and successful partnerships with the likes of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
