NISSAN has announced that it recorded European best-ever sales of 715,623 vehicles in 2015, with December sales totalling 61,823 units.
Nissan achieved a market share in Europe of 4% in 2015, maintaining the record market share in 2014. This consistently strong market share marks a nearly 50% increase from 2009 levels of 2.7%. Together with the Datsun brand, market share is 4.2%.
The brand’s European sales were bolstered by the ever popular crossover offering with Qashqai, Juke and X-Trail sales, all up on 2014 figures. The Nissan Pulsar, built in Nissan’s Barcelona plant, is also making steady ground, with sales up 50 per cent from 2014.
Nissan is still leading the way in important new technologies – with more to come in 2016 both in electric cars and in autonomous driving vehicles, the future of transportation. The pioneering Nissan Qashqai crossover continues to go from strength to strength with more than 248,000 customers choosing its style, efficiency and advanced technologies in 2015.
The Nissan LEAF continues to lead the electric vehicle segment globally and sold more than 15,000 cars in Europe, in line with 2014 sales. The new 30KWh LEAF is about to hit the showrooms in Europe and will give customers 26% more autonomy proving Nissan’s leadership in zero emission field. The new H60 model, to be built in Nissan’s Barcelona plant will also be one to look out for in 2016.
For the sixth year running Nissan’s Sunderland factory built over 400,000 vehicles, cementing its position as the UK’s most productive automotive plant.

Investments to strengthen local production in Nissan’s key markets have paid dividends with Nissan registering year-on-year sales growth of 41% in Spain, 19% in Italy, 12% in the UK and 12% in Germany. Nissan has gained market share in more than 75% of the European markets in which it operates with market share records in some countries, notably Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
