THE Brazilian Olympic Committee has announced that Nissan is to become its fifth ‘top-tier’ sponsor for the 2016 Games.
Nissan will supply 4,500 vehicles to transport athletes, officials and journalists during the Games. The 2016 event will be the first time the Olympics and Paralympics have been held in South America.
And although it will be thousands of miles away from the UK, the promotional opportunities for dealers here will be enormous.
Nissan is the sixth domestic sponsor for Rio 2016. The others are Bradesco, Bradesco Seguros, Claro and Embratel.
Carlos Nuzman, the President of Rio 2016, told the website Inside the Games: ‘I am very happy with this historical achievement. This partnership demonstrates the value of the Rio 2016 brand and the strength and attractiveness of the Brazilian consumer market.’
In 2014, Nissan will be opening a new world-class manufacturing plant in Rio de Janeiro.
