MEET Evan Monro: the nine-month-old boy who has been driven around town a lot since he was born – but never in a petrol-powered car.
Evan is the son of Nissan LEAF owners Shannon and Christin Monro and is perfectly happy when he’s travelling along in the back of his parents’ all-electric hatchback.
Shannon and Christin have owned the car for 18 months and have done almost 24,000 miles in it. In this short video, Shannon says: ‘We’ve driven the car daily since it arrived. We’ve pretty much parked our other car and only driven the LEAF.’
Charging the car is a breeze for the Monro family as they live in Orlando, where there are more than 300 charging points.
Says Christin: ‘This car works for our family perfectly. It’s a roomy car. Evan’s car seat fits just fine, as do his stroller and his booster seats that we take to and from restaurants.’
Shannon adds: ‘I think as people get over the fear of being different, they will realise how easy it is to take care of the car. It doesn’t need excessive maintenance. It doesn’t need an oil change and it doesn’t need gas.
‘It doesn’t really need anything from you as the owner.’
