A VEHICLE Technician from Caerphilly has signed up to take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon next month to raise money for charity.
Ryan Grant, who works at Wessex Garages – Nissan on Hadfield Road in Cardiff, will be running in the race on Sunday, October 2 in aid of George Thomas Hospice Care.
The 22-year-old, explained: “I have not run a half marathon before so this will be a real challenge for me. I have only recently got in to running but I really enjoy it and I am rapidly becoming a keen runner.
“I chose to support George Thomas Hospice Care because it’s the dealership’s Charity of the year and a great local cause. I’m looking forward to taking part in the race and I hope to raise £300 for the organisation.”
Nicky Piper MBE, Corporate Fundraising & Events Manager for George Thomas Hospice Care, said: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Ryan for signing up to the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of George Thomas Hospice Care. I wish him the best of luck and hope he enjoys it.
“The money Ryan raises will help those suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, their families and carers at a most difficult and stressful period in their lives.”
George Thomas Hospice Care was established in 1984 and has helped more than 24,000 patients and their families in Cardiff. It is committed to personal dignity, quality of life and the highest possible standards of care and service.
The services George Thomas Hospice Care provides are free of charge. It offers a number of services at its Hospice Centre based in Whitchurch Hospital Grounds, however much of its work takes place in its patients’ homes.
