WILL Nissan resurrect the 240Z to celebrate the company’s 80th anniversary?
That’s the burning question American TV host and car nut Jay Leno puts to Nissan’s chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura in the video we’ve posted on Nissan Insider today.
In the clip posted below, Leno is seen visiting Nissan’s Japanese design HQ and pays glowing tribute to the 240Z, or, as it is known in the Far East, the Fairlady.
He says: ‘One week after Americans had walked on the moon, the Japanese introduced this sports car and, if you’re a car guy, it was pretty equal.
‘Walking on the moon was pretty good, but how many times are you going to walk on the moon? Here was an affordable sports car that had real performance and looked like it cost a lot more than it did.’
In another section of the clip, Leno praises the ‘timeless, good-looking design’ of the car and says it was definitely a car designed with American roads in mind.
But how does Shiro Nakamura reply to Leno’s ‘burning question?’ Watch the video and find out…
