LEAF owners will now find charging their electric hatchbacks even easier and cheaper now due to the launch of a new charging network.
The programme, called Source London, will provides a network of more than 1,300 charging points across London by 2013.
It will allow London residents to charge their electric vehicles in their streets, municipal car parks and supermarket car parks, and regardless of borough, the scheme costs £100.
However, Nissan is offering free subscription to the scheme for anyone who buys a LEAF by the end of the year, and, for existing LEAF owners, Nissan will reimburse them.
Paul Willcox, Managing Director of Nissan Motor (GB) Limited said: ‘Nissan fully supports the Mayor’s agenda to promote zero carbon emission vehicles in London, which is why we are providing free access to the network for all LEAF owners across the capital. A city-wide charging infrastructure will be of great benefit to all Nissan LEAF owners.’
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: ‘I want to rapidly accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles and make London the epicentre of electric driving in Europe.
‘Increasing numbers of motorists are opting for cleaner, greener electric transport, delivering a host of benefits to the driver including a 100 per cent congestion charge discount. This is set to deliver considerable environmental benefits to our city.
‘Through Source London we want to give drivers the confidence that they can plug into this fantastic new motoring technology.’
