THE UK’s motoring press travelled to Spain this week to try the new Juke Nismo for the first time – and now their verdicts are in!
Early views from the mainstream outlets have been posted on respective websites ahead of their print deadlines, and it’s quite clear the journalists love the fiery Juke – and, what’s more, they’re even more excited about what’s coming next.

It’s only supposed to be lightly toasted. And although none of this transforms the Juke, it’s enough to make it feel more like a hot-ish hatch than a stylee crossover: not too much roll, just enough power to get your attention, and a cheeky measure of torque steer without feeling squirmy. And the exhaust, though not exactly rude, certainly sounds more resonant – especially with the windows down. Not only does this car cap the highly-successful Juke range, but it kicks off a whole line-up of Nismo road cars – and it’s an encouraging start. A high centre of gravity means it’s no match dynamically for hot-hatches like the Golf GTI, but it has a character all of its own. From the manic power delivery of the turbocharged engine to the extrovert styling, the Juke Nismo is a car that doesn’t take itself too seriously – it isn’t too stiff or too loud to be used everyday, either. The Nismo is the best Juke we’ve ever driven, certainly the most rewarding and now competitive and unique enough for you to consider whether you need to buy a hot hatch and except the sacrifices 
that usually entails (rear room, space etc). The looks will probably still be the deciding factor here for you, but warm to them or see through them and you have a dynamic machine that’s ever so rewarding when driven within its limits quickly and smoothly. For the full review click here

The Juke Nismo is a rather likeable warmed over version of a quirky urban crossover, which will no doubt help Nissan maintain the absolute stranglehold over a segment the Juke basically created in the first place. The fact Nissan let journalists drive an even more powerful version of the Juke Nismo – coming soon with 218bhp, even sharper set-up and better sound – points to the fact this first attempt is really aimed at the mass market, not the performance enthusiast. The even sportier model, dubbed the RS, felt far more in-tune with what we were expecting from the standard Nismo. However, as a start, it’s a good stab at a performance model and with a host of Nismo models in the pipeline, we’re sure this won’t be the last you’ll be hearing from Nissan’s answer to AMG and M Sport.
