FIFE Council has made two further electrifying additions to its vehicle fleet – an all-electric Nissan e-NV200 van and a Nissan LEAF. car, supplied by Alex F Noble and Son, the Midlothian based Nissan car dealership.
The two new vehicles were supplied by Midlothian-based dealer Alex F Noble and Son and join six further LEAFs also supplied by the dealership since 2011.
Transport Scotland is part funding the purchase of the new electric vehicles. The ‘Switched on Fleets’ initiative is driving forward public sector fleets’ green credentials by increasing the number of electric vehicles on the road. The Scottish Government’s ambitious climate change targets include phasing out all petrol and diesel fuelled vehicles by 2050.
Cllr Pat Callaghan, Fife Council’s Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation said: “More electric vehicles on our roads helps to increase awareness among drivers of the viable alternatives to petrol and diesel cars.”
Tom Henderson, Service Manager (Fleet Operations), commented: “The new Nissan e-NV200 is ideal for the ‘Meals on Wheels’ service. Not only does it run efficiently despite short trips and frequent stops, but it’s much quieter travelling around residential areas”.
Jim Rowan, EV specialist at Alex F Noble & Son, said: “We’re very encouraged to see Fife Council continuing to invest in Nissan with the addition of another LEAF and an e-NV200, which is proving ideal for the ‘Meals on Wheels’ service.
“Alex F Noble & Son has an excellent working partnership with Fife Council and we look forward to continue to be of service in the ongoing development and maintenance of their electric vehicle fleet.”
