A DORSET dealer’s generosity with a local hospice has been praised – and has resulted in a cash boost for another charity.
Dorchester Nissan in Miller’s Close loaned the award-winning Nissan LEAF to Weldmar Hospicecare – a charity for people with a life-limiting illness living in Dorset.
The fantastic initiative has now come to the attention of MAPFRE, an automotive warranty company, which celebrated the dealer’s community spirit by giving away £200 to motoring charity, BEN.
Every month as part of a feature in Auto Retail Profit magazine, MAPFRE picks out a ‘good news’ story to show how retailers go above and beyond to help local communities, and it recently chose Dorchester Nissan’s work with the Weldmar Hospicecare.
Tony Jordan, Dealer Principal at Dorchester Nissan, said: “It’s nice to see our community initiative with Weldmar Hospicecare has been celebrated in this way. We are very community-minded at Dorchester Nissan and always want to help out where we can.
“Now, in helping out the hospice, we have also helped raise money for BEN.”
As part of the year-long initiative the LEAF – which costs from as little as 2p a mile to run – will be used by hospice staff to get around the county, promoting its services and its fundraising events.
