A STOCKPORT dealership came up with an electric idea to help support a radio DJ’s 125-mile bike challenge.
West Way Nissan, in Spring Gardens, loaned Tameside Radio presenter Gareth Cottrell a 100% electric e-NV200 van so his support crew could film his gruelling trek from Manchester to Wales on Saturday, 1st August .
The DJ, along with friends Bob Chrystal and James Carter, completed the tough challenge, raising more than £1,000 for a children’s charity.
Steve Wright, Innovation Specialist at West Way Nissan Stockport, said: “Gareth had come into the dealership enquiring about buying an all-electric Nissan LEAF and told us about his bike ride challenge. We knew he needed a support vehicle but wanted to keep costs down so the e-NV200 was the perfect choice.”
Gareth added: “The adventure from Manchester to Wales was pretty hard going and at times we thought we’d never complete it. I’ve got to say a big thank you to West Way Nissan Stockport for the help it gave us.”
The money raised by the DJ will now be donated to When You Wish Upon A Star, a charity that does incredible work with families and children who have life threatening illnesses.
Launched last year, the Nissan e-NV200 combines the NV200 – a former International Van of the Year – with the proven technology of the record breaking Nissan LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric car.
