NOTTINGHAM-BORN athletics legend Richard Whitehead MBE will help the city’s Nissan dealership – one of the largest in Europe – celebrate its first birthday this weekend.
The Abbeyfield Road dealership is staging a special weekend party to mark the occasion and the London 2012 Paralympic Games gold medallist and Nissan brand ambassador will be guest of honour.
The event will also mark the fact there’s now just a year until the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Whitehead – who holds the world records for an athlete with a double amputation in both the marathon and half marathon – will be available on Saturday to chat to fans, pose for pictures and sign autographs.
A range of special deals will be available across the Nissan range throughout the weekend and visitors can enjoy afternoon tea on Saturday and a breakfast on Sunday.
Gary Dighton, General Manager at Sandicliffe Nissan Nottingham, said: “Our new dealership is one of the largest Nissan outlets in Europe and certainly one of the most impressive so we really wanted to go to town and generate a carnival atmosphere to celebrate its first birthday.
“There will be a real family feel to the event and visitors will find lots to keep them entertained and will, I’m sure, love the opportunity to meet an extraordinary athlete like Richard.”
He added: “Hopefully lots of people will come along across the weekend and help us celebrate in style.”
Richard Whitehead’s appearance at Sandicliffe Nissan has been arranged as part of Nissan’s role as the Official Automotive Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB on the road to the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
As part of this, Nissan has launched their ‘Be the heartbeat of Britain’ campaign, which will unite fans behind British athletes, celebrating their passion and engaging the nation in the build up to the Games.
