THE latest group of dealership apprentices have celebrated graduating from Nissan’s national programme.
Seventeen travelled with family and friends to the Sunderland Nissan plant for the Nissan Apprentice Graduation 2015.
Representatives from dealerships who have supported the apprentices throughout their three-year programme were also in attendance on the day.
After a welcome reception, the day started with a tour of the NMUK plant where the graduates could see both the Qashqai and LEAF being built from start to finish.
Many of the graduates couldn’t believe the scale of the five-mile long production line as they got to witness every step of the journey in making the cars.
The certificate and gift-giving ceremony took place in the afternoon at the Quality Hotel in Boldon, Sunderland where each apprentice received their certificate signed by NMGB Managing Director Jim Wright and a personalised tool set to help them in their future careers.
The Nissan Advanced Apprenticeship Programme (NAAP) is a dedicated scheme provided by Nissan for the dealer network. Apprentices carry out their training at a facility in Doncaster alongside working in their local Nissan dealership.
The programme enables the apprentice to acquire all the necessary skills to become a full-time employed Nissan Technician once they have graduated.
Enrolments for Autumn 2015 are at a new record level with 40 vacancies registered and 30 apprentices already recruited. This will bring the total number of apprentices on the programme to 102.
