A SALISBURY Nissan dealership has been teaching students about the benefits of green transport using the all-electric Nissan LEAF.
Westover Nissan, on Brunel Road, accepted the invitation of Godolphin School’s Green Group to be a part of Environmental Week, showing students about the inner workings of the Nissan LEAF and talking about future advances in battery technology.
Sallyann Turner, Westover Nissan’s Electric Vehicle Specialist, also took teachers and sixth formers with driving licenses for a test drive, allowing them to experience motoring’s silent revolution first hand.
The visit proved fruitful for Westover, with two members of staff and one of the student’s parents subsequently buying the hatchback.
Richard Dain, Deputy Headmaster, said: “We were amazed by the acceleration. The LEAF may be silent but it’s certainly not lacking in power! Two of our staff have bought LEAFs following Sallyann’s visit, as has one of our parents and they’ve been impressed by the car’s design and feel, as well as by how easy it is to charge. Our thanks go to Westover Nissan for helping us to bring this topic to life for our learners.”
As a result of the business generated by the visit, Westover decided to make £100 donations to each of Godolphin’s three chosen charities — BLESMA, which helps injured servicemen and veterans, Exeter House, which educates children with severe learning difficulties, and the Alzheimer’s Society.
