Work has begun on a brand-new Nissan dealership in the Hampshire town of Eastleigh which will see Hendy Group expand it operations there.
Hendy is working in partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council to transform the brownfield site in St George’s Way, adjacent to the group’s existing dealerships in Villeneuve Way and opposite its Leigh Road operation.
Construction work is due to take a year on the multi-franchise dealership which will provide state of the art facilities for Nissan, plus Renault and Dacia.
It will be built to excellent standards of sustainability and designed to offer an efficient, clean, and pleasant working environment. Every effort will be made to minimise the carbon footprint of the build, with contractors sourced locally and the use of approved materials throughout.
Additional features in the new development include a two-deck car storage facility to maximise space on site, at least 10 electric vehicle charging bays, and solar panels.
Hendy Group chief executive Paul Hendy said the partnership with Eastleigh council will create an environmentally-friendly development employing around 45 people.
“This development reinforces our commitment to the area and will provide us with the space needed to look after our customers now and in the future,” he said.
“This investment is part of our ongoing expansion plans, and we see Eastleigh as a key location for our long-term future.”
Hendy Group completed its acquisition of West Way Nissan in Southampton from Nissan GB earlier this year. Hendy Group explained at the time that the dealership was being integrated into the business ahead of its move to Eastleigh.
