Launched as the original crossover 17 years ago and still the segment leader in Europe, the Nissan Qashqai has again gone where others fear to tread by breaking the world record for the highest bungee jump with a car.
The feat, undertaken as part of the current TV campaign for new Qashqai, was intended to invoke the spirit of previous TV commercials featuring the car – and will debut on screens soon.
Placed on a 65-metre-high basket, the Qashqai took the plunge with a professional stuntman on board, the challenge epitomizes Nissan’s brand motto: Defy Ordinary!
Jérôme Biguet, Marketing Director of Nissan France, said: “This is the kind of daring and therefore furiously essential challenge that we love at Nissan. The brand has always shown its ability to innovate and shake up habits with audacity and sometimes even impertinence.
”In its various TV spots, the Qashqai has tried skateboarding, surfing, paintball… each time a thrilling activity. The new campaign will see it jumping from building to building. The idea of a bungee jump to symbolise the personality of the new Qashqai quickly came to mind.”
Carried out in the Paris region by the staff of Nissan France, in collaboration with its agencies FUSE and Nissan United, and the technical teams of the BBC, this bungee jump was carried out in front of the jury of the Guinness World Records, who validated the feat as a new world record.
Bold new look
This spectacular challenge was unveiled in prime time on Sunday, September 8 on French television channel TF1 by Denis Brogniart, a French tv presenter and Nissan brand ambassador.
The recently updated Nissan Qashqai is now on sale across Europe, with a bold new exterior look, complemented by an extensively revised interior.
Additionally, the new Qashqai is now equipped with Google built-in, allowing drivers to seamlessly connect to Google Maps, Google Voice Assistant and to download apps from the Google Play store.
