The new Nissan Qashqai is the star of the world’s best marketing campaign this week thanks to an eye-catching new launch.
‘Elevate Your Urban Drive’ features a trio of computer-generated videos showing a new Nissan Qashqai suspended by drones and flying across the UK past vertical parking bays, ‘reserved for Qashqai’, on famous landmarks. The film climaxes with the British-built car being installed on the 49-metre high historic chimney at Truman Brewery in East London.
The digital campaign was complemented by a larger-than-life Qashqai model proudly displayed on the 200-year-old landmark, which captured the attention of onlookers and generated headlines across the UK’s biggest news titles.
Fiona Mackay, Marketing Director at Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd., said: “This campaign perfectly showcases the excitement, design and technology of Qashqai so we’re absolutely delighted that it’s captured attention across the world.
“We love to defy ordinary at Nissan and have really brought this car to life in an unmissable way. A huge thanks go to the whole team involved in this project – we’ve truly taken the Qashqai to new heights!”
‘Elevate Your Urban Drive’ also included activations on Newcastle Quayside (just down the road from where the Qashqai is built in Sunderland). A huge poster was displayed on the side of the iconic Baltic gallery to coincide with the start of the Great North Run, celebrating the car’s local roots and over 300 Nissan employees that participated in the half-marathon.
That was closely followed by activations designed to bring the ‘Elevate Your Urban Drive’ campaign strapline to life, including an Instagram AR filter, and a social media influencer event highlighting British design icons, which started out from Nissan’s design headquarters in Paddington, where all models of Qashqai have been conceived since 2006.
The campaign was devised in partnership with TBWA\London and launched in the UK on 19 Sep. It was named the world’s best this week by industry experts at AdForum, recognised as the voice of the global advertising industry.
