NISSAN’S Qashqai was the eighth biggest selling vehicle in the UK last month, according to the latest figures from the SMMT.
The crossover that combines eye-catching, stylish design with SUV toughness continued selling well as 2012 got under way, with 2,627 units shifted in the first month of the year.
A total of 39,406 Qashqais were sold last year, making the Sunderland-built car the ninth best seller of 2011 in the UK.
The Ford Fiesta maintained its grip on the number one spot in January, after having been the top seller of 2011.
The SMMT’s figures showed that new car registrations overall rose 0.03 per cent to 128,853 units in January.
The new car market is expected to remain stable in 2012, dipping just by one per cent to 1.92 million units, before recovering in 2013.
January typically accounts for around seven per cent of annual registrations, ahead of the key March market, which usually represents 18 per cent of the annual market and approximately 65 per cent of volumes registered in quarter one.
