IT’S been a day of major news from Nissan at the Geneva Motor Show … and there’s plenty for car dealers to get excited about.
No fewer than FIVE important announcements were made by the company at the show earlier today. And of course, Nissan Insider was first with the news, keeping dealers and other key players at the company up to date as the stories and pictures were released during the morning.
- First up was news that Note’s successor, called INVITATION, will be built at the company’s phenomenally successful Sunderland plant, securing hundreds of jobs, creating hundreds more, and representing a further investment of £125m by Nissan in the UK.
- Then came the revelation that Nissan, already the leader in the field of electric vehicle technology, is laying plans for the next stage of the EV revolution and planning to make the LEAF even more of a success story than it already is.
- Dramatic images of the Hi-Cross Concept were widely viewed last week, and today Nissan explained more about how it is planning to maintain its leadership of the crossover market.
- The company also revealed that JUKE, the compact crossover that has single-handedly created an entirely new sector, will be the first Nissan to be turned into a premium sports model: Juke Nismo.
- And finally, what about this? The company revealed it sold a record 4.67m vehicles in 2011, 14.4 per cent up on 2010. Impressive stuff.
