Over the last week, the team and I have been indulging ourselves at Silverstone’s fantastic new £27m pit complex.
The brand-new facilities were extremely impressive and they even let us have some fun on the track.
Silverstone uses some 370Z and GT-R models and we were set loose for some let-your-hair-down driving. Our sports models really are impressive and it’s only when you get to stretch their legs in the safety of a closed circuit where they really prove just how good they are.
Meanwhile, I signed off the marketing plan for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We’re heavily involved with the fantastic event this year and will be increasing our brand exposure with an innovative approach on EV and sports models.
Plans include showcasing the Racing LEAF, a full race-spec GTR thanks to Andy Middlehurst plus a rather fun way of demonstrating the LEAF. It’s likely to be a fantastic weekend.. as long as the sun is shining.
And, lastly, it was great to see Nissan’s strong performance figures revealed. Global share is up 5.8 per cent, volume is up 19 per cent and in 2011 Nissan chased 4.8m sales. All this lead to a healthy profit, that’s almost back to pre-financial crisis levels.
