THE NOTE has been in your showrooms for a while now but it still continues to impress.

Arguably the king of the mini-MPV sector, the UK-built NOTE has spurred on many a rival manufacturer to bring out a competitor boasting newer and better features. But none have such a complete package like the NOTE.

It’s a tremendously spacious car with a strong attitude towards practicality, but still has eye-catching looks. That was always the USP of the car when it first arrived in dealers’ showrooms –  a ‘unique combination of stylish design and valuable space’, as well as ‘intelligent functionality.’

Five key facts about the NOTE…

Award winner

Since its launch in 2006, the NOTE has always been a favourite with the press. In fact it’s won no less than four awards – it won best supermini in Auto Express’ awards in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and won the Which? best buy award and the Which? mini MPV award for reliability.

Big on equipment

From the very outset, the NOTE was always packed with value for money equipment. A face-lift in 2009 tidied up the looks even more, and a MY11 change in September 2010 saw a wealth of new, ‘big car’ equipment added, ranging from climate control, auto lights and wipers, Bluetooth, privacy glass, and cruise control – depending on model.

British through-and-through

The NOTE shares the honour of being built in Britain with the Qashqai and the Juke. In fact, the NOTE is built on the same line as the Juke.

Green-minded

The NOTE is part of Nissan’s Pure Drive range. That means the mini MPV is good looking, practical, and environmentally friendly. It’s available in 1.4-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel forms.

Super car associations

You can get the NOTE in the same colour as a GT-R. Gun Metallic Grey (colour code: KAD). That means GT-R customers can have a practical car to sit alongside their supercar.

The magazine was of the view: ‘The Nissan NOTE has always had plenty of appeal as a spacious, no-nonsense compact MPV.’ Autocar went on to say that the 2009 face-lift only added to the NOTE’s already strong appeal and recommended the car highly.

Even as late as last year, the NOTE was still getting favourable reviews: ‘The Juke crossover proves Nissan isn’t afraid to let its designers get bold. The British-built NOTE isn’t as daring, but four years after launch, it still looks the part…  When you consider that the NOTE n-tec is now cheaper than the Kia Venga 2 and comes with much more kit as standard, it’s easy to see why the revised Nissan is a serious contender in this class.’
