STAFF at a Nissan car dealership in Bristol raised £166 for a children’s charity in the city by hosting a Wallace and Gromit Weekend.
Wessex Garages on Pennywell Road organised the event, which took place from August 22nd until 24th, in aid of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal.
Adam Davis, Digital Sales Executive at the dealership, said: “Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is our charity of the year for 2014 so we wanted to host a weekend dedicated to the amazing work it does for the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and Special Care Baby Unit.
“We would like to thank everyone who attended and donated money during the weekend. It is such a worthy charity, which helps so many babies and children.
“On the Friday we hosted a Wrong Trousers Day for staff and we held a bake sale throughout the weekend. Members of the team baked a variety of cakes including cheesecake, which we heard Gromit loves, to sell to visitors for £1 per slice.
“There was a colouring competition for children to take part in and a Wallace and Gromit quiz. The winners took home Wallace and Gromit merchandise.”
Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal was established in 1995 and has since raised more than £25 million to support a wide range of life-saving medical equipment, family accommodation and patient comforts, along with a programme of arts, music, education and play facilities in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The Wallace and Gromit stop-motion productions are made by Bristol-based Aardman Animations.
