With just a few weeks remaining until the start of 2023, the award-winning British-built Nissan Qashqai has emerged as the best-selling new car in the UK so far this year.
What’s more, the popular family crossover has topped the monthly sales league three times in 2022, and was only three registrations off hitting the number one spot in October!
Qashqai was the car with the largest number of registrations in April (3,804 units), July (2,514) and September (9,311). So far this year, a total of 33,562 new Qashqais have been driven off dealership forecourts.
Its nearest rival in the year-to-date figures is more than 1,400 units behind, meaning the rest of the new car market has some catching up to do with just two sets of monthly sales figures yet to be published.
More good news
There was more good news for Nissan in the new car registration numbers published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders today.
The brand’s market share for 2022 (year to-date) stands at 4.44 per cent, up from 4.02 per cent at the same point last year, and its October performance was also up nearly half a per cent on 2021 too.
And with car sales in October driven largely by purchases of hybrid and battery electric vehicles, Nissan’s British-built heroes – including LEAF, Juke Hybrid and Qashqai e-POWER – plus the all-new X-Trail e-POWER and all-electric ARIYA – are ensuring the brand is perfectly placed to meet customer demands.
The all new version of Qashqai, built in Sunderland and launched last year, has been a phenomenal success.
It received glowing reviews from motoring journalists, and picked up double honours at The Motor Awards 2021, organised by News UK. Qashqai received the overall ‘Sun Car of the Year’ award as well as being named ‘Small SUV/Crossover of the Year’.
With a new electrified powertrain, class-leading technologies and advanced connectivity, the latest Qashqai redefined the popular crossover segment once more.
And it saw the introduction of advanced technologies such as ProPILOT with Navi-link and Adaptive LED headlights.
Going places
A refined cabin environment, massaging front seats and segment-leading head-up display are complemented by family-friendly features such as 85-degree rear opening doors and 504 litres of boot space.
And the good news doesn’t stop there, with the introduction of Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology to the range taking place right now!
Commenting on the SMMT registration statistics for October, a Nissan spokesperson said: ‘‘We have been delighted by our new car sales performance so far in 2022.
‘‘Qashqai has deservedly topped the monthly sales charts no fewer than three times and it was great that we were able to break through the five per cent overall market share barrier in October.
‘‘Nissan really is a manufacturer that’s going places. Watch out for more exciting announcements during the rest of this year and into 2023!’’
