All-New Nissan MICRA and LEAF electrify crowds at the Season 11 Formula E finale

Nissan took the opportunity at the London finale of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship last month to showcase its two latest electric models together for the first time in the UK.

The season 11 showdown took place at London’s Excel centre, where Formula E fans and motoring enthusiasts alike were able to get up close and personal with All-New MICRA and next-generation LEAF.

The all-new, sixth-generation Nissan MICRA will return to the B-segment later this year as a fully-connected, 100% EV.

Meanwhile, the third generation of the pioneering LEAF continues to lead the charge in Nissan’s electrification strategy with a sleek design, significantly extended range and intuitive technology. The order books will be opening this autumn with the first deliveries set for spring 2026.

The two exciting new 100% electric cars were on display on the Nissan stand within the Fan Village at Excel, and drew in the crowds throughout the weekend.

Guests to the stand could also demonstrate their competitive streak on racing simulators, and admire this season’s Nissan e-4ORCE 05 racer – the latter clearly showing how Nissan is using its track-to-road expertise to develop cars like All-New MICRA and LEAF.

A second LEAF was also on show and positioned in the main avenue between the Fan Village and the racetrack. The car was set up with a DJ providing live music all weekend, powered by its state-of-the-art battery pack and electrical systems.

The final round of the 2024/25 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship was a special one for the Nissan Formula E team, having arrived in London with the Drivers’ World Champion title already in the bag. Brit Oliver Rowland sealed his series victory in Germany in July.

The weekend’s racing in London didn’t quite go according to plan, however, as reported elsewhere on Nissan Insider.

But team boss Tommaso Volpe said: ‘‘We can be very proud of an amazing year. We achieved seven podiums and four victories; we secured the Drivers’ Championship with two races to go; and we were in contention for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ titles until the very last race.’’
