WEEKLY car magazine Auto Express has asked how much better can the Nissan GT-R get?
The comment comes after the magazine, along with other major automotive and motor trade publications, had the chance to compare the 2011 Nissan GT-R to the brand new GT-R MY12.
Journalists were able to test the car on Silverstone’s national circuit at a special event yesterday.
The new MY12 is the latest version of the R35 GT-R – a model which still has another four years in its production cycle – and boasts more power and different suspension than the outgoing model.
It received received high praise from the magazine, prompting it to question: ‘With four years left until it’s replaced, how much better can it get?’
Auto Express’ Jack Rix came to conclusion: ‘As a supercar for all conditions, the Nissan GT-R remains peerless.
‘With more power and trick suspension, the MY12 car refines the formula slightly but its essence is the same. Drive it on a slippery track and this 500bhp plus coupe still demands respect, but in the back of your mind is the fact that few things – barring a Porsche 911 GT2 perhaps – would be quicker point to point.
‘And there’s the GT-R’s trump card, that it’s happy to cruise at 150mph on the autobahn with all your luggage in the back.’
