TWO girls’ football teams from Halifax have a winning new look, thanks to a local Nissan dealership.
Bristol Street Motors Halifax has provided the King Cross Juniors FC Under-10s and Under-11s girls’ teams with a new kit after Vehicle Administrator Kelly Sirmond saw an appeal for support by their manager, Becky Alderson, on Facebook.
Andy Brown, General Manager of the Shay Syke dealerships, said: “When Kelly showed me the Facebook post I knew we had to help the girls out.
“King Cross is a well-known club in the area. It has 17 teams, of which only two are girls’ teams. We felt that it was important to help encourage them to engage with, and enjoy, local sport as much as their male counterparts, so we were only too happy to help.
“Playing for a community team can instil in young people a love of sport and a sense of local pride, which is something we’re pleased to be able to support. We wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”
Becky added: “We’re grateful to Bristol Street Motors for its support. Raising the money to purchase a full team kit can be very difficult, so to secure the support of a sponsor like Bristol Street Motors is fantastic and we look forward to building our relationship with the dealership.”
