THE Chorley Group — which has Nissan dealerships in Chorley, Preston, Wigan, Blackburn and Burnley — has extended its partnership with Blackburn College.
Since 2015, the two organisations have worked together to provide professional development for the dealership’s staff and training opportunities for the college’s students.
The active apprenticeship programme between Chorley Group and Blackburn College offers the chance for students to build their subject knowledge, access industry and employability skills and increase their confidence within an engaging and relevant workplace.
Andrew Turner, Chorley Group’s chairman said: “As part of the partnership, Blackburn College provides Chorley Group with apprenticeship recruitment and training, and the latest recruits are due to start this month.
“By working in partnership with Blackburn College we are able to bring new talent to our organisation, as well as helping the College to develop their students’ industry skills.”
Andrew was also one of many inspiring individuals who delivered a series of masterclasses for students and staff at the college as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Speaking to Level 1 to 3 Motor Vehicle students, Andrew shared how he grew his business to £100m turnover and offered tips for success, speaking about the importance of consistency and motivation.
Nicola Clayton, director of business development and external engagement at Blackburn College, said: “Our employer partnerships are immensely important to us – they provide our students with vital industry experience which prepares them for their future careers.
“Chorley Group is an excellent example of an organisation who invests in the development of their own workforce, and who also supports the workforce of the future by sharing their expertise”.
