Five Nissan dealerships in the north-west of England will close for the day on June 21 so staff can enjoy a break as coronavirus restrictions are lifted.
Chorley Group, which runs the showrooms in locations such as Burnley, Blackpool and Preston, has announced the one-day closure so its employees can ‘‘unwind, relax and take time for themselves‘’.
In an interview with Car Dealer Magazine, Adam Turner, the group’s MD, said employees of the business, which also operates Kia, Hyundai and MG dealerships, had gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic.
He confirmed: ‘‘We are closing the business fully for the day on June 21. So many of our team have gone over and above, working longer hours, and some have lost loved ones.
‘‘We just think to give them a dedicated day to unwind, relax and take time for themselves is essential.’’
In a statement on LinkedIn, the dealer group explained it would be ‘‘celebrating the start of summer’’ on June 21. The post goes on to thank all Chorley Group staff and their families for their support.
And if there is a delay to the lifting of lockdown, the note goes on to explain that the business will simply postpone the day off to a later date.
