CHORLEY Group, which runs five Nissan dealerships in the North West, is continuing its ambitious expansion plans after successfully acquiring a 1.2-acre site in Chorley.
It has purchased the land on Foxhole Road — opposite its current Nissan showroom on Ackhurst Road, Chorley — from Northern Trust. It will be used as a retail facility and work is expected to start within the next three months.
Adam Turner, Sales Director, said: “We’re really pleased we’ve acquired the land opposite our existing dealership on Ackhurst Road, it will be a huge asset to add to our continued growth over the past 12 months.
“Chorley is a growing town and the Council are doing a really great job in increasing employment and investment in the area. As our home town, we want to be a huge part of the growth in Chorley as well.”
“We are going through a period of investing heavily in our increasing property portfolio, and over the last two years we have invested over £1 million in refurbishing and upgrading our showrooms and aftersales facilities to ensure our customers receive the best possible experience, with much more to come.”
The site had been held within Northern Trust’s land holding for a number of years, but does not form part of the company’s core portfolio.
Mike Grindrod, Director at Northern Trust, said: “We are pleased to have completed the sale of the 1.20 acre land site on Foxhole Road, Chorley to Chorley Group, a local family run business.
“After reviewing the marketing options for the site, we felt that this was a prime development site ideally suited for the motor trade with its excellent location and road side visibility. We look forward to seeing Chorley Nissan’s plans for the site come to fruition.”
The Chorley Group has dealerships in Chorley, Wigan, Preston, Burnley and Blackpool and employs over 240 people at its sites. It was recently crowned Retail Business of the Year at the Lancashire Red Rose Awards.
