BRISTOL Street Motors Nissan Darlington is undergoing an £800,000 expansion and creating three new jobs after a significant growth in business.
Construction work at the dealership, on McMullen Road in Darlington, is now under way to increase the workshop and showroom, as well as creating a brand new commercial vehicle display area.
The workshop team, which carries out vehicle maintenance and diagnostic testing, is also taking on two senior technicians and an apprentice technician to help meet the growing number of customers choosing to use the dealership for MOTs and servicing.
Bristol Street Motors Nissan Darlington now directly employs 47 motor retail professionals across sales, servicing, aftersales and administration roles.
Following an increase in the number of enquiries, the commercial vehicle department, headed up by Fleet Sales Manager Derek Austen, is receiving its own bespoke display area allowing it to more effectively support local businesses with their fleet transport needs.
Terry O’Neill, General Manager, said: “This investment in the site and new colleagues demonstrates the strength of the motor retail industry in the Darlington area. The business has continued to grow and our new expanded facilities will allow us to maintain this momentum.
“We are seeing an increasing number of local businesses turning to Nissan for their commercial vehicles. Our commercial vehicle department has its own area, which will allow it to better serve our business customers.
“I am delighted that with our expansion, we are able to provide more jobs for local people. I am especially pleased that we are able to take on another apprentice. Many of the best and brightest in the industry started their careers as apprentices, gaining experience and qualifications on the job, earning while they learn.”
