A state-of-the-art training facility run by the Glyn Hopkin group – and which shares its home with one of the company’s Nissan dealerships – has been given a prestigious seal of approval.
The Institute of the Motor Industry has awarded Glyn Hopkin’s Chelmsford Training Centre IMI Approved Centre status. The facility shares its site in the city’s Waterhouse Lane with Chelmsford Nissan.
Delivering practical and theoretical learning, its launch earlier this year clearly demonstrates the dealer group’s focus on embracing the many fast-changing advances in automotive technology.
Now, with IMI Approved Centre status, all relevant Glyn Hopkin staff, as well as other industry technicians, will work towards achieving the ‘gold standard’ qualifications needed to be able to work on electrified vehicles and those with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as well as handling F-Gas.
With more than 150 technicians and 35 sites across London and the South-East, Glyn Hopkin is one of the UK’s largest and most successful dealer groups.
Forward-looking
The company runs a total of 13 Nissan dealerships and represents a number of other well-known manufacturers.
Glyn Hopkin spokesperson Paul Sozzi said: “We are committed to staying ahead of rapidly-changing automotive technology, training our colleagues to work safely on the latest and most advanced vehicles. We are, therefore, delighted to have achieved IMI Approved Centre status.”
Kevin Finn, Executive Chair at the IMI, said: “As a forward-looking dealer group, Glyn Hopkin must be congratulated for planning ahead to fill the skills gap with highly-trained EV and ADAS-qualified technicians.”
Centres that want to achieve IMI Approved Centre status must meet certain IMI criteria including delivering an outstanding quality of accreditation provision, as well as demonstrating a clear commitment to upskilling their technicians.
