THE all-electric Nissan e-NV200 is helping the team at Estuary Housing Association maintain its portfolio of more than 4,000 affordable properties across the South East.
Two of the award-winning panel vans, which cost just two pence per mile to run, have joined the not-for-profit organisation’s fleet and are being used by maintenance teams in Southend-on-Sea.
Each of the vehicles, which were supplied by Toomey Motor Village in Basildon, has been fitted with a racking system and roof-mounted pipe carrier.
They cover an average of 30 miles per day and allow the association’s workers to carry out all manner or building repairs and maintenance around the local area.
Jason Grieve, Estate Services Maintenance Manager at Estuary Housing, said: “As a not-for-profit organisation we obviously have to pay close attention to our bottom line and so having vehicles that are so much cheaper to run and maintain than a conventional diesel was a big attraction.
“But our decision to take on the e-NV200 was not purely based on costs. As an organisation we are also committed to reducing our environmental impact and so the fact the e-NV200 offers zero emissions mobility made it a win-win for us.”
Based on the Nissan NV200 – International Van of the Year 2010 – and utilising the proven technology of the record breaking Nissan LEAF, the new e-NV200 costs just two pence per mile to run.
In addition to low running costs and emissions, users will also benefit from low maintenance costs that make for unrivalled total cost of ownership – £1,200 lower than a conventional diesel van over four years – and an unbeatable proposition for businesses large and small thanks to the unique driving experience of the e-NV200, drivers will feel less fatigued due to the lack of engine vibration in the cabin.
Meanwhile, the model, which is priced from £13,568 in panel van form (incorporating PiVG) offers a class-leading 4.2m3 capacity and an impressive 703kg payload.
