CWMBRAN dealership Newtown Motors has given star cyclist and Olympic double silver medallist Becky James a heroine’s welcome home.
Following her two silver medals in the Women’s Sprint and Women’s Keirin at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Becky was the guest of honour for a day of meet-and-greets.
Young fans were given gold medals to take home along with their picture with Becky, while everyone — including Becky — had a go at a football-themed challenge.
Newtown Motors, on Somerset Road, had supported Becky in the lead-up to Rio by providing her with a Nissan Juke to help her with the many trips she took for training and competition.
“It was wonderful to welcome her back here and congratulate her on a truly memorable performance in Rio,” said Sales Manager Neil Williams. “She’s the darling of British cycling and the pride of Wales, and we are so glad she was able to come back to see us and meet with fans.”
The partnership between the dealership and Becky was formed through Nissan’s role as the Official Automotive Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB for the Rio 2016 Games.
