A LEADING London hospice has made significant savings on its running costs thanks to six Nissan LEAFs and two e-NV200s, provided by Nissan dealer group Ancaster.
St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham has been provided with 45 Nissan cars, including the electric vehicles, by Ancaster Group.
The LEAFs, which have a range of up to 155 miles*, are used by nurses to provide in-home care to thousands of patients in five London Boroughs, and by staff distributing to its 19 shops around the city.
Meanwhile, the two e-NV200s are used for transporting larger items and replace their previous diesel counterparts.
It is estimated the hospice will save more than £20,000 on the six LEAFs over the course of their leases — without counting the significant money saved on London congestion charges every day on their visits — while the e-NV200s are estimated to save around £650 a year.
Nissan has also fitted free EV charging points, saving St Christopher’s even more.
Graham Pearse, Senior Fundraising Manager, said: “Our fleet goes on more than 14,000 home visits a year, as well as serving our two sites and 19 shops. The potential savings we are making, and can make, by going electric are incredible.
“We aim to be completely electric by 2020 — if we can manage that we will be able to make enough savings to employ almost two more nurses.
“Ancaster are one of our biggest supporters and have been for some time. We are so grateful for all their support, in particular providing us with a fleet that enhances our care service and make significant savings too.”
Colin Arksey, Business Specialist at Ancaster Group, which has six showrooms in South London and the Home Counties, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support St Christopher’s with their fleet and in particular with their Nissan LEAFs and e-NV200s. We look forward to supporting them in their mission to be completely electric by 2020.”
