NISSAN and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have announced that the brand new Nissan GT-R NISMO is now available for Gran Turismo 6.
The GT-R NISMO is the ultimate articulation of the R35 GT-R. First released in 2007, Nissan and engineers have been meticulously honing the GT-R’s performance with each version of the car that has followed.
The Nissan GT-R NISMO was recently present at the GT Academy 2014 European Race Camp at Silverstone. During the event, president of Polyphony Digital Inc. and creator of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, was able to drive the car and announced that it would be made available for purchase from the in-game dealership. As a thank you to GT Academy fans, the car is also free to download for any Gran Turismo 6 player who has entered the GT Academy 2014 competition.
The first deliveries of the road version of the Nissan GT-R NISMO have already begun in Japan. The car is also now on sale in the US and Europe, with their first deliveries scheduled for October. “The GT-R NISMO is an incredible car and I am thrilled that Nissan is able to not only offer it to drivers across the globe, but now also to gamers in the virtual world of Gran Turismo 6. It’s another great example of how Nissan continues to bring innovation and excitement to all – both in the real and virtual world!”
The 2014 model GT-R is already established as one of the best performing supercars in the automotive sphere, and Nissan has drawn on decades of racing experience gathered by NISMO, the brand’s motorsport specialists, to develop the ultimate Nissan GT-R.
However, the Nissan GT-R NISMO goes that one step further by featuring exclusive styling that embraces the longstanding racing philosophy of form following function. It has numerous motorsports-inspired technologies to enhance the car’s performance through optimised aerodynamics, suspension and powertrain, creating a well-balanced machine that is at home on both the road and track.
Nissan GT-R NISMO employs innovation, uncompromising engineering and motorsport-inspired technologies to achieve new levels of power, speed and handling. Together, the front bumper, engine undercover strake and carbon rear spoiler increase downforce, lowering the center of gravity and generating an additional 100kg (at 300km/h) compared to the freshly updated 2014 Nissan GT-R model. A widened front bumper configuration and elongated yet tapered rear bumper design keep the drag to Cd 0.26, same with that of 2014 Nissan GT-R Nothing on the new GT-R NISMO has been overlooked. The springs and custom-developed Bilstein DampTronic dampers in the front and rear suspension are specially tuned to deliver exceptional grip levels and progressive handling response at the limit.
The GT-R NISMO features a VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 rated at 600PS Its high-flow, high-capacity turbochargers are similar to those used for GT3 racing and offer improved breathing. Optimized individual ignition timing control for each cylinder and upgraded fuel pump (versus standard models) help improve combustion. Each engine is hand-assembled from beginning to end in a special clean room by specially trained technicians, a process similar to racing powerplant construction.
This Nissan GT-R NISMO was driven by Michael Krumm at the Nürburgring in September 2013, prior to its official announcement. The NISSAN GT-R NISMO with the NISMO N Attack Package set the fastest record of a 7 minutes 8.679 seconds lap in volume production cars at the Nordschleife (North Course) on Germany’s Nürburgring. The production model of the GT-R NISMO is available for sale in Europe and GT Academy fans can take it to the virtual track today!
