HOURS of work by the staff of a Crewe Nissan dealership have enabled Santa to conduct his Christmas duties in style.
The Holdcroft Nissan workshop staff have restored the Santa Sleigh operated by Sandbach Round Table, and provided a festive red Nissan Qashqai to tow it around Sandbach and surrounding areas.
The sleigh, complete with new paintwork, lighting, sound and upholstery, was unveiled at the Weston Road dealership to the cheers of customers and children who were keen to take a seat and meet Santa.
Workshop controller Sam Brooks said: “It was a real labour of love for us all and definitely the most unusual vehicle we’ve ever worked on.
“We had assistance from Scope Automotive, Leathertech and Automotive Repair Systems to get the job done, and everyone was so pleased with the end result. It looks amazing and we’re proud to be a part of the community in this way.”
The Santa Sleigh made its public debut at the Sandbach town Christmas lights switch on and will spend December touring as many streets as it can, with the public able to meet Santa in exchange for a donation to local charities.
Franchise director Chris Greenhall said: “We have supported Sandbach Round Table for a couple of years now and when they approached us asking to help repair their sleigh we were delighted to be able to. It took a lot of work but it was worth every minute.”
Mark Booth, from Sandbach Round Table, said more than 200 children met Santa on the sleigh on its first outing, adding: “It’s nights like those that make the effort that we put in worthwhile and rewarding. From the promise Holdcroft made to give our sleigh the quick once over, to the finished product we now have, is mind-blowing, and a credit to all the staff.”
