AN NMGB Aftersales Performance Manager is in training for the biggest sporting challenge of her life after securing a last minute place to run in the London Marathon.
Kim Sperring, who looks after dealers in Zone 1, bagged the eleventh hour place from the British Paralympic Association in February and will be the charity’s only representative in the race.
The place was offered by the BPA to its volunteers and partners – including Nissan – and Kim applied.
She is now in intensive training for the 26-mile event while trying to raise £2,000 which will help Supercharge ParalympicsGB towards achieving their goals at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Taking a break from her preparations, an excited Kim said: “I’ve done a half marathon before and I’ve done lots of smaller runs down the years but this will be my first full marathon.
“Disability is a cause very close to my heart though and so when the offer of a place to run for the British Paralympic Association came up, I thought I’d put myself forward. I like a challenge and I like to raise money for good causes so it seemed perfect.”
She added: “I’m told lots of people applied for the place but my name was drawn out of the hat in February.
“It was a bit of a shock and it’s certainly quite short notice to start preparing for a marathon but I’m really looking forward to it.”
