MIDLOTHIAN Nissan dealership Alex F Noble & Son has joined forces with a top motor racing team — and in turn, is supporting one of their own.
The dealership, based at Straiton outside Edinburgh, has been named an official partner of Ecurie Ecosse.
The team, which won the famous 24-hour Le Mans race 60 years ago, has unveiled plans to take part once more in June, as well as competing in the Le Mans Cup (the feeder series to the European Le Mans Series) and the new Henderson LMP3 Cup.
Driving the team’s Ligier LMP3 machinery in both championships is Colin Noble, the son of Alex F Noble & Son director — and former successful racing driver —Colin Noble Snr.
Colin will be joined by Alasdair McCaig in the Henderson LMP3 Cup and by Tony Wells in the Le Mans Cup.
Colin competed with the Radical works team last year as well as the International GT Open. Alasdair ran with Ecurie Ecosse in the British GT championship at the wheel of a McLaren, while Tony won the Radical European Masters Series with Nielsen Racing last year with nine wins.
McCaig, who is also Team Director, said: “We have plenty of exciting news to come, but to start with, it’s great to confirm our race programme for the coming season. We’re really looking forward to running the car in both the Le Mans Cup and the Henderson LMP3 Cup.
“We are pushing hard to get back into the sports car scene and we feel this is the perfect time and the best opportunity for us to build on our experience, history and passion for endurance racing, while delivering the results for our sponsors.
“I am delighted to welcome Alex F Noble & Son Nissan and Edinburgh Gin as our new partners for 2017 and would like to thank the John Clark Motor Group for their continued support.
The Le Mans Cup starts in May at Monza, Italy, and continues through the summer until October, where it concludes in Portico.
The LMP3 Cup Championship spans 12 rounds starting at Donington Park in April and concluding at the same venue in September.
