YOU know when a car really becomes fashionable when coach builders start to have ideas of stretching it.
A Missouri-based coach builder is thinking just that with the LEAF, as plans are afoot to turn the 100 per cent hatchback into a stretched limo.
Imperial Coach Builders, a subsidiary of Electric Car Company, inc., has revealed that a company as asked them to stretch the zero-emission car by 48 inches – doubling rear seating capacity and taking the total length of the LEAF to 223 inches.
‘This will be the first conversion of this revolutionary vehicle and the first pure electric limousine,’ said Electric Car Company president Gary Spaniak.
No word has been given as to whether the firm will build a mini-bar or bench seating, or whether changes will be made to the battery pack.
