TWO colleagues from a Leicester car dealership are all set to take on the gruelling Leicester Half-Marathon this weekend.
The workmates from Nissan Leicester in Abbey Lane will tackle the challenge on Sunday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Nissan Consultant Rob Collis and Master Technician Neil Winkless are all set to raise money for a charity that has touched both of their lives.
Rob said: “My mum has had two bouts of breast cancer and she is currently in palliative care, as unfortunately chemotherapy can do no more to help her.
“The work that Macmillan and other similar charities do for cancer patients is invaluable, and they have been fantastic in everything that they have done for my mum, so this is my chance to give something back.
“I’ve never done a half-marathon before, so it’s going to be a challenge, but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Neil added: “My dad passed away through cancer a few years back, so when I heard that Rob was doing the half-marathon – having run a few marathons in the past – I was keen to join in and support his efforts.
“The dealership has got right behind us, too, and offered my entrance fee as a donation to the cause.”
Joe Vaja, Service Manager of Nissan Leicester, said: “We’re really proud of what these two guys are doing and many members of staff will be there on the day to support their efforts.”
