RUNNERS at this year’s Edinburgh Marathon will know exactly how quickly they are progressing thanks to the leading Nissan Navara clock car, supplied by Alex F Noble Nissan, the Straiton-based family-run car dealership.
For the third year in a row, the dealership is the official car partner for the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, which this year will take place over the weekend of Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27.
The company, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is supplying a total of 10 vehicles.
Two flat-bed Navara trucks will be used as lead clock cars; two Nissan Micras will be used as clock cars for the junior event; four vans will transport various equipment over the race weekend and two ‘runaround’ cars will be involved in transporting race crew around the city.
Antonia Flockhart, Partnership Manager of organisers, GSi Events Ltd, said: ‘Last year’s event had over 26,000 runners participating and tens of thousands spectators.
‘As you might expect, with this being Olympic year, interest is even greater than in 2011 and looks set to be the best yet.
Very important
‘We are so grateful to Alex F Noble for their continued support. The Nissan vehicle range they provide, which includes cars, flatbeds and vans, ticks all our boxes and it’s so good to have them involved again.’
David Noble, Dealer Principal at Alex F Noble Nissan, said: ‘Being involved in such a high- profile event as the Edinburgh Marathon Festival is very important to the dealership as part of our annual sponsorship programme.
‘It’s pleasing to know our vehicles look set to play their part over another very busy weekend.’
