NISSAN marketing director Steve McLennan has a Christmas tip for dealers – make sure you buy Clarkson’s new DVD!
The Top Gear presenter’s latest offering, filmed at the stunning Paul Ricard circuit in France, was released on November 7 and a certain Japanese supercar features very heavily in it.
McLennan explained: ‘My Christmas tip to dealers would be to get hold of Clarkson’s Christmas DVD and see the GT-R in action against all sorts of exotic stuff.
‘I’ve seen clips and heard the summary statement and let’s just put it this way, the GT-R comes out on top against some previously supposedly untouchable super cars. It’s impressive and even the new McLaren is taken to the cleaners.’
In this clip from the video you can see Clarkson put the mighty GT-R up against the MP4-12C in a launch control test. And the Nissan clearly wins by a nose!
McLennan explained to Nissan Insider just how important the supercar is to the brand in the UK – and why it plays a vital role in helping all dealerships succeed.
‘We are so very grateful for it,’ he said. ‘It’s a car that no mid-market brand can offer or touch. It’s an icon. It is important to the business and the brand. It shows Nissan’s engineering capability and it just keeps getting better and better.
‘The car has just been refreshed again and we recently held an event for journalists that was attended by 80 UK customers and journalists at Silverstone.
‘They were treated to the culture of GT-R and the customers had a wonderful day. We would confidently expect to sell 10 to 15 cars off the back of the event.’
Perhaps a copy of Clarkson’s DVD would make a nice gift for those potential GT-R buyers who are undecided whether to place their deposits…
