A NEW Nissan Juke supplied by Alex F Noble and Son to an Edinburgh rugby club is helping to develop the sport in Midlothian schools.
The fully-insured car was presented to Scottish National 3 side Lasswade RFC at the family-owned-and-run Nissan dealership at Straiton as part of its ongoing sponsorship of the club.
Lasswade RFC president Ian Barr said: “On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Alex F Noble and Son again for their continued support, which allows us to continue our success both on and off the field.
“Our schools rugby development programme goes from strength to strength and the new Juke is invaluable to us in that respect, as we now regularly visit around 14 primary and two secondary schools across the region.
“An exciting, recent expansion of the programme is our new partnership with Lasswade High School, Scottish Rugby and Midlothian Council to form a school of rugby at Lasswade High, while we also continue to deliver rugby to the primary schools that feed both Lasswade and Newbattle High Schools.
“This year, we have also introduced an ambitious and ground-breaking venture to develop a rugby qualification for Lasswade High School pupils for them to utilise if they want to pursue a career in rugby.
“The new Juke model from Alex F Noble and Son is the most efficient and well-equipped version to date and includes a number of features that are of particular benefit to the club.
“Among these are the low CO2 emissions, to the extent that we only have a £20 annual road tax to pay. In addition, up to 76mpg is available from the 1.5DCI engine, while the car’s stop/start technology also greatly assists the overall fuel efficiency, so we’re saving a fortune on fuel.
“What’s more, the car’s boot volume is nearly 50 per cent larger than previous models, which is really useful for us in the transport of kit and equipment, while the onboard safety features such as LED daytime running lights, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, moving object detection and 360 degree cameras make it a very safe vehicle indeed for our personnel to drive.
“All in all, I’m absolutely delighted with the car, without which it would be impossible to maintain the delivery of our schools campaign at its present level.”
David Noble, Dealer Principal at Alex F Noble and Son Nissan, said: “I’m delighted that the Juke is making such a huge contribution to the club’s commendable schools education programme, and everyone at the dealership wishes Lasswade RFC similar great success on the field next season.”
