THE Parts Advisor at a Nissan dealership in Shropshire has shaved off his hair and beard and raised more than £270 for charity.
Nick Leighton works at Greenhous Nissan in Shrewsbury and signed up for Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave the Shave event, where people shave their hair off as a mark of support for cancer patients.
The 40-year-old from Montford Bridge was supported by friends and colleagues as he had his close shave at his local pub The Wingfield Arms.
Nick said: “I was driving along listening to the radio and I heard about someone doing the ‘Brave the Shave’ challenge. I have put money in cans and buckets for charity but never done anything major so I thought I would give it a go.
“It feels really strange to have my all my hair and beard cut off as I had been growing it for a long time. But the fact all the money I raise goes straight to this charity is a great feeling.”
Dave Sullivan, Dealer Principal at the Featherbed Lane dealership, said: “We’re really proud of Nick for doing something like this, especially as he had been growing his beard for quite a long time and got quite attached to it.
“It’s great to see one of our staff members doing something like this for charity. We hope proceeds raised from this event will help Macmillan Cancer Support and its tireless work across the country.”
