AN AWARD-WINNING Nissan dealership is giving a scout group a helping hand with its fundraising auction.
The 2nd Llandaff Scouts, in Cardiff, need to raise £250,000 to buy its premises. Now Wessex Garages has given the group a selection of prizes for a fundraising auction on April 17.
Gareth Howells, General Manager at Wessex Garages on Hadfield Road, explained: “We are delighted we can help the 2nd Llandaff Scouts with their auction. We are donating a signed rugby ball from the Cardiff Blues and also two Cardiff Blues match tickets. We hope they manage to raise a lot of money at the auction to go towards purchasing their scout hall.
“The Scout Group have to raise £250,000 to buy the site that the hall is on. The church that own the land are selling up and that includes the land the scout hall is on.
“Hundreds of children have passed through that hall, learning important life skills along the way.”
The auction will take place during a Curry Half and Laugh event on Sunday, April 17 at Llandaff North Rugby Club from 7pm until 11pm. During the evening there will be splendid Indian food supplied by Nahin Spice Centre and hilarious entertainment from the fabulous Nick Page.
Hayley Hayes from Llandaff North, whose daughter attends the scouts, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Wessex Garages for its rugby related donations. We are sure they will be very popular in the auction with Cardiff Blues fans.”
