Nissan Qashqai collects another award as it’s crowned UK’s best-selling new car

The Nissan Qashqai was the UK’s best-selling new car in June, figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders have revealed.

The multi-award-winning crossover – as popular now as it has ever been during its incredible 18-year lifespan – recorded an impressive 5,008 registrations for the month.

The news follows the announcement of yet another award for Qashqai, which was recently named Best Hybrid at the 2025 Business Motoring Awards.

Great news

A Nissan spokesperson said: ‘‘What a start to July Qashqai has had! The Business Motoring Award was of course very welcome and we are over the moon that it has topped the new car registration charts for June.

‘‘These two pieces of great news mean a huge amount to everyone connected to our fantastic Qashqai.

‘‘From the designers and engineers who devised the car in its present form, to the teams at our Sunderland plant where Qashqai is built, and everyone working in our network of dealerships across the UK – we couldn’t be more proud.’’

The spokesperson added: ‘‘Winning the ‘Best Hybrid’ award means so much because it recognises the innovative powertrains available on Qashqai. These include Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology, which delivers the sensation of driving an EV without needing to plug in. Thank you to the judges at Business Motoring for this tremendous vote of confidence.’’

e-POWER combines the smooth, effortless acceleration and refinement of an EV with the convenience of traditional combustion power.

At its heart is a clever principle which delivers real customer benefits. The petrol engine is used only to generate electricity which is sent directly to the electric motor to drive the wheels, as well as to charge the battery if needed.

Well-respected

Unlike traditional hybrids, there is no complicated gearbox and coupling to combine petrol power and electric energy to drive the wheels, meaning response is instant and the drive is always smooth, just like an EV.

Another similarity with a pure EV is that the regenerative braking system on e-POWER converts kinetic energy into electrical energy, fed back into the battery.

Business Motoring is a valuable and well-respected resource for those involved in the running of corporate fleets of all shapes and sizes.

Nissan’s success in its 2025 awards follows recognition received last year, when the all-electric crossover ARIYA was Highly Commended in the Best Large EV category.
