NISSAN has revealed it will be competing in this year’s Pikes Peak…. In a LEAF.
The all-electric car will be driven by Chad Hord and is being entered into the gruelling 12.42 mile hillclimb to take on and beat the current EV record.
Set last year, the current Pikes Peak hillclimb record time stands at 13mins 17.575 which was set by Ikuo Hanawa in a specialist, purpose-built EV.
But the LEAF Nissan will be entering with will be completely standard, with normal tyres and suspension.
The LEAF will be sharing the same hillclimb with purpose-built machinery. One entrant will be driving an 850bhp Dacia Duster concept, for example.
