THERE’S been an arresting development at Norfolk Nissan dealership, Crayford & Abbs — with the appointment of a retired police officer to the team.
Fife-born Graeme Thomson is the new Fleet Business Specialist at the Holt dealership, on Gypsies Lane, and is enjoying life in the automotive business — which is a world away from the career he once had.
Graeme spent 35 years in the force — the bulk of his time with the Ministry of Defence police — during which he was a dog handler, a driving instructor and in the early 2000s served on the UN’s international force in Kosovo, where he met his wife, Lindita.
But after retiring, Graeme found himself in need of something to do, and started looking for a new job. Crayford and Abbs Director Kevin Abbs, was happy to give him a new opportunity.
Kevin said: “We are delighted to have Graeme on board with us and even though he’s only been here a short time he’s already made great strides. There are more than 1,300 businesses in our area who we can now develop relationships with, so we’re excited to see how Graeme progresses.”
Graeme said: “It’s completely different to everything I’ve done before but I absolutely love it so far. I’ve had great help and support from my new colleagues, who have welcomed me in, together with our loyal customers.
“There’s a fantastic ethos here, not only as a dealership but in terms of what Nissan wants to achieve and that was one of the first things I noticed. Customer satisfaction and confidence is key, so I know I have an important job to do to ensure our business customers enjoy the very best levels of expertise and peace of mind.”
